In July 2013, Florida State University acquired the Civic Center and the venue was renamed Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Global Spectrum, a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor, was selected to manage the facility and began operations on March 1, 2014. In addition, catering for the meeting rooms, concessions, suites, club seats and Spotlight Grille is now provided by the Civic Center’s food and beverage staff. Previously all catering was provided by Aramark.
Under the direction of Florida State University and Global Spectrum, an estimated $16 million renovation of the Tucker Civic Center has begun, which will include new FSU branding colors of the facility, new suite level wall displays, installation of about 11,000 all-garnet seats in the Arena, new FSU branded loading dock entrance area, new concourse floor, new corner scoreboards, video screens and LED ribbon boards and an updated sound system. Also infrastructure upgrades to chillers and air handlers and electrical improvements will be made along with updates to bathroom fixtures. The main parking lot has been resurfaced and restriped. The Civic Center’s meeting rooms have also been updated with new colors, lighting fixtures and carpet. The renovation process will continue into 2015 but patrons will see noticeable changes to the venue at upcoming events and during the 2014-15 FSU Basketball season.
